Betty J. (Clinard) Strehl

Betty J. Strehl, passed away, July 10, 2018 at her home at Independence Village in Petoskey.

Betty was born in Springfield, Tennessee on September 25, 1926 to Jack and Effie Clinard.  Always a hard worker she worked in a department store during her high school years and moved to Jackson, MI where she worked in the office of a defense plant. 

During her time in Jackson, she traveled with a girlfriend to visit injured soldiers at a VA hospital in Battle Creek, MI.  This is where Betty met the love of her life Frank J. Strehl, they met in February and were married in October. 

Frank and Betty moved to East Jordan, MI in 1948 where she worked as an insurance agent and was part owner of an Insurance Agency.  While in East Jordan Betty enjoyed Bridge, golf at Ye Nyne Olde Holles, weekly BINGO at St Joseph Church and visits to Odawa Casino. 

After retirement, Frank and Betty spent summers in East Jordan appreciating the cool breezes off Lake Charlevoix and winters in the warmth of Tucson, Arizona.  In both locations, they developed numerous lasting friendships.  During this time of their lives Frank and Betty went on countless adventures in their RV visiting friends and meeting new ones at every stop. 

Though Frank and Betty did not have kids of their own, they both enjoyed time spent with their many nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank Independence Village where Betty spent her later years for their care and concern for her well-being.  The care from Hospice of Michigan was also very much appreciated.

A visitation and Memorial Mass are scheduled for Tuesday, July 31 at St Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey.  Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30am and Mass will start at 10:30am.
