Charles Raymond Capling, 86 of Indian River passed away on February 2, 2019 at his home.
Ray was born on November 24, 1932 in Birmingham, MI the son of Ralz Capling and Isabel (Hamilton) Capling. He grew up in Pontiac and attended school at Pontiac Central High School graduating in 1950. On September 3, 1955 he married Wanda Jubenville in Chatham, Ontario, Canada. Ray served our country in the Army for two years in the Signal Corps. Ray enjoyed fishing, boating, snowmobiling and riding on his dune buggy. Ray and his wife enjoyed traveling. The couple always vacationed to Burt Lake in the summertime and upon his retirement from GM, he and his wife moved here fulltime except for spending winters in Arizona. Ray also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren as well as dedicating much time to crossword puzzles. Ray was a member of the Indian River VFW.
Ray is survived by his wife Wanda children Anna May (Douglas) Prince, Carrie Raye Chavora, Charles Raymond Capling Jr., and Kristal Marie (Joe) Kingsley, grandchildren Riane Marie Ostipow, Benjamin Douglas (Beth) Prince, and Robert Michael (Amanda) Prince, great-grandchildren Preston Lee Ostipow, Jozlyn Marie Ostipow, Hailyn Rae Ostipow, Emma Marie Prince, and Lillian Paige Prince. He is also survived by his brother William Capling. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Judy Marie, and brother George Hamilton and sister Mary Ellen Epley as well as son in law Douglas Chavora.
Services for Ray will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the VFW Hall in Indian River. Visitation will begin at 12pm with a memorial service at 2pm. A luncheon will follow.
