Charles “Chuck” Daniel, 79 of Petoskey, died March 7, 2019.
Chuck was born on June 9, 1939 in Petoskey, the son of Herbert and Katherine (Mayer) Daniel and graduated from St. Francis High School with the class of 1959.
On June 20, 1959, Chuck married the love of his life and the woman he was going to spend almost 60 years with, the former Joan Zyks and the two made their home in Petoskey. Chuck went to work as a Roofer, most notably with Hunts Roofing. While roofing, he and his brother Carl took their most notable coffee break, on top of the steeple at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, one on each side of the cross. He later went to work at Northern Michigan Hospital, now McLaren Northern Michigan, where he worked in the X-Ray Dept for 24 years before formally retiring.
Chuck was the epitome of a hard worker, but he was a true gentle man and was always there to give a lending hand to those in need. He loved tending to his garden and was an avid hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; 4 children, Julie (Ron) Rinock, Jacalyn (Allan) Burke, Peter Daniel, and Patrick (Cara) Daniel; 3 grandchildren, Robbie George, Michelle Burke, and Oliva Rinock; 5 siblings, Maggie Skiver, Thomas (Ruth) Daniels, Mary (Bud) Riley, Edna (Craig) Shaw, and Norman (Emily) Daniel; and by many nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Carl (Raeann) Daniels.
A funeral Mass, celebrating Chuck’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 12th at 10:30am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30am until the time of service.
Arrangements are in the care of the Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey.
