Charles Paige Obituary

Charles “Charlie” “Chuck” Leonard Paige, 80 of Petoskey passed away on December 8, 2019 at The Villa at the Bay.

Charlie was born on October 5, 1939 to parents Leonard and Mildred (Davy) Paige in Petoskey.  With the exception of his service in the US Army, he lived in Emmet County his entire life. Charlie was a proud member of the Petoskey High School graduating class of 1957.  While in high school he ran track, was on the ski team, played basketball and football. He was very proud to wear the Petoskey Northmen blue and white.

Charlie worked many years for A&P stores in Petoskey, Grayling and Saint Ignace.  He then spent many more years working afternoons doing maintenance at Emmet County Medical Care Facility in Harbor Springs and then before retiring, he was a  night shift custodian at the new Wal-Mart in Petoskey.      During the day he operated his own business, Charlie’s Delivery Service delivering appliances and other big ticket items for both Sears and Montgomery Ward.

Through the years, Charlie enjoyed down- hill and cross country skiing, camping, fishing and hunting. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching sports on TV. He especially loved watching all college and professional teams of Michigan.

At a young age, Charlie was taught how to weld by his father who owned a welding shop in back of his family home. His natural talent of building and fixing things was showcased by the house he designed and built himself as well as numerous projects he would repair for his friends and family.  Charlie was also an animal lover and took in many stray cats and dogs through the years.

Charlie is survived by his four children, Stephen Paige of Harbor Springs, Kendra (Tim) Davis of Harbor Springs, Kristin Paige-Divito of Blue Spring, Missouri, and Charlie (Deanna) Paige of Alanson.  He was a grandfather to three grandchildren, Kyle Campman of Petoskey, and Amelia and Karis Divito of Blue Spring, Missouri.  He also had a niece and five nephews.

There will be a memorial service at Stone Funeral Home on Saturday December 14 at 11:00 with the family receiving friends beginning at 10:00am.

Donations in Charlie’s honor may be made to the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers at The Villa at the Bay for the gentle, loving care and compassion they gave Charlie each and every day and night.
