Charlotte Jane Dobias, 86, of Cheboygan died peacefully at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital on June 16, 2018 in Petoskey, Michigan.
Charlotte was born on August 11, 1931 in Turner, Michigan, the daughter of Milton and Eva (Pollington) Eckstein. Charlotte moved to Cheboygan in 1953 to work at the hospital as a registered nurse. She married Albert Dobias, DVM on November 25, 1954.
Charlotte is survived by her children Mark (Michelle) Dobias of Sault St. Marie, Michigan, Timothy Dobias of New Oxford, Pennsylvania, Thomas (Trisha) Dobias of Cheboygan, Michigan, Jeffrey Dobias of Allendale, Michigan, Albert (Kristin) Dobias of Chantilly, Virginia, and Patricia Dobias of Cheboygan, Michigan, her sisters Grace Naessens, Patricia Keenan and Carleen Moore, all of Midland, Michigan and a brother, Louis Eckstein of Absarokee, Montana, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Charlotte was preceded in death by husband Albert Dobias, DVM, a son David Dobias, her parents, her stepfather Carl Stegman and grandson Aidan Dobias (Allendale, MI).
Despite her health problems over the years, she was not prevented from living a good life and her grit and determination set an example for others. She enjoyed watching birds on her many bird feeders, a love of plants and volunteering her amazing cooking skills to the Cheboygan County Humane Society as well as other organizations.
Her family expresses their gratitude to her many friends and caregivers who brought her comfort and happiness during their visits.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00am, at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan with a luncheon and continuance of a celebration of her life at the Inverness Township Hall beginning at 1:00pm.
