Colleen Michelin, 78, of Cheboygan, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2019 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.
She was born on November 14, 1940 in Newberry, the daughter of Armand and Lena (Charboneau) Michelin. Colleen graduated in 1958 from Cheboygan Catholic High School.
Colleen’s work at Western Union took her to many cities over the years, giving her the opportunity to visit many family members. Colleen was well known as the family videographer, and she would record all of the Michelin family gatherings. Colleen wasn’t in many pictures because she was behind the camera, making family history by capturing all the special moments of her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Colleen’s love of family was well known and truly appreciated. Colleen was never one to judge, but ask her opinion and she would be happy to share her thoughts. She was an avid reader, loved to can tomatoes, was a huge Star Trek fan, always up for a game of Yahtzee, enjoyed family meals, with a known dislike of mashed potatoes! Her uniqueness, independence, and loving spirit will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her brother Norman (Jackie) Michelin of Trenton, Mary (Joseph) Costello of Monroe, and Gerald (Regina) Michelin of Jackson, Missouri, and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father Armand and mother Lena, brothers Jerome and Eugene, and sister, Esther Maybank.
A funeral mass will be held for Colleen at St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church in Cheboygan on Tuesday, July 23rd at 11:00am, with visitation at the church beginning at 10:00am. Rev. Duane Wachowiak will officiate and burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery immediately following the service.
Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Food Pantry, the Salvation Army, or your charity of choice.
