Daniel James Johnson

Daniel James Johnson, 24, of Petoskey, died unexpectedly on November 26, 2018.

Danny was born July 27, 1994 in Petoskey, Michigan, the son of Daniel Richard Johnson and Traci Smith-Delaney. Danny attended school at Onaway High School. He later received his GED and was working towards some college classes and apprenticeship.

He was a talented wood carver, a skill he learned from his dad. He worked as a chef in various places, including Applebee's, Antlers and Burger King. Most recently he was working as an airline mechanic. He loved working on cars and vehicles of all kinds. Danny was also a skilled musician and enjoyed playing his guitar. He liked the outdoors and was often exploring with his sons, nieces and nephews. In the summers, he would fish and kayak with his dad. Danny touched so many lives in his short 24 years. His smile and personality brightened every room he walked in to. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Danny is survived by his son, Brixston Daniel Johnson and his mother, Mikayla Reppenhagen; his son, Oliver James Johnson and his mother, Makisha Decker; mother, Traci Smith-Delaney; father, Daniel (Ruth) Johnson; siblings, Katie (Daniel) Eggers, Keith Allen Smith, Brandon Merrill (Hope) Johnson, Elizabeth (Everett) Northrop, Ashleigh (Chris) Turner, Makena Johnson and Carver Johnson; Grandparents, James and Sharon Walter, Bill and Ann Smith, Richard C. Johnson, Jr. and Sandra Johnson, and Geraldine Schneider; great-grandmother, Rosalie VanWormer; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Richard C. Johnson, Sr. and Janet Johnson, George and Loie Mayo and Olga Weidmeir.

There will be celebration of life on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the Walloon Lake Community Church at 12 noon with a visitation beginning at 11:00 until the time of service. Pastor Jeff Ellis will officiate.
