Darci Irene Curley-LaJoice

Darci Irene Curley-LaJoice, age 47, of Simpsonville, SC and formerly of Cheboygan passed away July 14, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC. She was born September 4, 1970 in Cheboygan, the daughter of Robert and Elaine (Socolovitch) Curley. She graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1988 and attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. She had worked as a Craps dealer at Kewadin Casino in St. Ignace as well as Nonna Lisa’s Ristorante in Mackinaw City as a server.

Darci was artistically gifted, spiritual, had a beautiful smile, a contagious laugh and had a passion for red roses and unicorns. She enjoyed watching Sunday football (especially the Lions), music and dancing, reading, cooking and loved her dogs, Neo and Trinity. Her favorite saying was “Has anybody told you today that they love you?” Darci had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone. She was loved by her many family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her mother, Elaine Curley of Cheboygan, four siblings, Nikilynn (Raymon) Morrow of Cheboygan, Jim “Big Bro” Preseau of Cheboygan, Lisa (Larry) Stempky of Gaylord and Jodi (Dave) Prieur of Cheboygan, nieces and nephews, Chad, Travis and Brendon (Colleen) Morrow, Jimmy Preseau, Jr., Amanda (Wayne) Pepin, Trevor and Megan Stempky and Eric and Ryan Prieur, great nephew, Alex Pepin, great niece, Allison Pepin and her special friend, Dennis Erhart. She was preceded in death by her father (who always called her “Darci Bean”), her grandparents, Irene Curley and Ethel Socolovitch and several aunts and uncles.

The funeral mass will be held at St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church on Saturday, August 4 at Noon with the family greeting friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Duane Wachowiak will officiate and inurnment will take place at Pinehill Cemetery immediately following the mass. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cheboygan County Humane Society.
