Elaine (Haleyt) Burdick

Elaine J. Burdick, 91, of Indian River, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Villa at the Bay in Petoskey.

Elaine was born July 7, 1927 in Detroit, the daughter of Victor and Valentina (Vellifon) Haleyt.  On June 3, 1950 in Detroit, she married Richard “Dick” Burdick.  In 1971, they moved to Indian River, where they owned and operated the former High Life Motel until 1994.  Elaine was an active member or the Indian River community and had served as the chamber of commerce director.

Surviving are two nephews, Ronald Vitovich of Detroit, and Rodney (Kathy) Vitovich of Highland, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dick, a brother, Frank Haleyt, and a sister, Mary Vitovich.

A graveside committal service will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11:00am, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan where she will be interred next to her husband.
