Ellen D. Land

Ellen D. Land, age 81, of Cheboygan passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Hospice House. She was born December 22, 1937 in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (McLaughlin) Devine.

Ellen met Keven Land in Northern Ireland when he was serving with the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the service they kept in touch and Ellen eventually moved to the United States and married Keven on February 11, 1961 at St. Charles Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on August 8, 2005.

She had worked at Community Memorial Hospital where she rotated as a technician in several different departments. She retired in the mid-80s after many years of service. She was an active member of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church and enjoyed flower gardening, knitting and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Colleen Dodd, of Cheboygan, one brother, Thomas Devine of Sheffield, England, three grandchildren, Matthew, Allison and Bridget Dodd, all of Cheboygan, her sister-in-law, Joyce Dilworth of Northville, MI and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Keven, Ellen was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Anna Dodd, her sister, Margaret Gormley and two brothers, Richard “Rex” and William “Liam” Devine.
