Elsie Proctor

Elsie L. Proctor, 82, of Cheboygan, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord.

A resident of Cheboygan most of her life, Elsie was born February 17, 1936 in Cheboygan, the daughter of Thomas and Edith (Sias) Proctor.  She had been employed at Melwings Restaurant and the Holiday Inn in Gaylord, retiring in 1994.  Elsie enjoyed crocheting, having made many hats for cancer patients and school children in need.  She also enjoyed traveling, and trips to the casino, and was a proud member of the Mackinac Band of Chippewa and Ottawa Indians.

Surviving are her children, Perry (Janet) Proctor of Gaylord, Paul Freeman of Louisiana, Pamela Freeman-Hebert of Florida, Pauline (Fred) Scwedt of Cheboygan, Penelope (Tom) Miller of Kalkaska, Patricia (Lawrence) Freeman-Switalski, and Lisa (Tom) Reed, both of Gaylord, 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, two brothers, William “Bussey” Crowner of Florida, and James Proctor of Detroit, three sisters, Averil Crowner of Indiana, Mary Wall of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Helen Pitts of Winter Haven, Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Sharon Rocheleau and Sarah Green, and three brothers, Howard Tamlyn, Benjamin “Benny” Proctor, and Freddie Crowner.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan.  Visitation will continue on Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 1:00pm until the time of the funeral service at 3:00pm, also at the funeral home.  Pastor Steve Scheer will officiate, burial will be at Pinehill Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
