Eva "Polly" Brazier

January 10, 1924 ~ December 2, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Eva Belle "Polly" Brazier passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at her home in Springvale Township. Polly was born on January 10, 1924 in Fairview, Michigan, the youngest daughter of Oscar and Cora Yoder. Following graduation from Fairview High School in 1942, she moved to Detroit to live with her sister Margaret. While living in Detroit, she met Robert Brazier, they married in April 1943 and raised five children on a Detroit Policeman's salary. After Bob's retirement, they moved north in 1971 to the 80 acre property in Springvale township that they had owned since 1957. Together they built a home, started a small hobby farm and lived very happily until Bob's death in 1994. Following Bob's death, Polly went to work as a people-greeter at the newly opened Wal-Mart store in Petoskey. She worked there for 11 years, retiring in 1996.

 

Polly loved her family, holiday get-to-gethers, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling to Shipshewana, Indiana, shopping for bargains, watching game shows and planning for Christmas.

 

Polly is survived by her son Robert (Bob) and his wife Linda of Petoskey, son John of Brownstown, MI, and daughter Diane of Petoskey.

 

Polly was also blessed with many grandchildren:

Bob and Melissa Brazier, Tracy and Sam Lowery, Chris and Katie Brazier, Mark & Kari Avery, Mike and Betty Avery, Shannon Martin, Jamie and Gabi Brazier, Tim Brazier, Stevie Brazier, Dusty, Donnie, Dominic and Damien Nuesbaum, Marty Brazier and Holly Christopher.

 

Great-Grandchildren included:

Corey Brazier, Ian and Samuel Lowery, Emma, Gavin, Isabella and Stella Brazier, Jennifer Brohl, Ian and Nicholas Brazier, Marissa and David Avery, Elisha, Trish and Olivia Avery, Samaria Dell, Jared Martin, Hunter and London Brazier, Jack Carson and Lydia Christopher.

 

Great-Great-Grandchildren: Isaac Brohl, Collyn Brandon and Adelbert Dell,

 

Polly was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Cora Yoder, sisters Ruth Handrich, Ruby Handrich, Margaret Kasper, brother Hub Yoder, husband Robert, daughter Barbara Neusbaum and son Douglas Brazier.

 

A memorial gathering  will be held at the Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey on Thursday, December 7th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Cremation will take place at a later date and burial will be at Joy Valley Cemetery in Springvale Township.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to the Emmet County 4-H program, 3434 Harbor-Petoskey Road, Harbor Springs, MI, 49740 or to the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, 1300 W. Conway Road, Harbor Springs, MI.
