George B. Hinkley

George B. Hinkley, age 73, of Cheboygan passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018. He was born June 29, 1944 in Cheboygan, the son of George R. and Monica (Perry) Hinkley. On January 26, 1974 in Cheboygan, George married Mary Lynne Johnson.

George was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966 during the Vietnam War, serving in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1968. He served an apprenticeship while attending Alpena Community College for the building trades and was a union carpenter with Local 202 for over 30 years. He was proud of the fact that he, along with his many friends in the build trades, built his own home. George was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

George is survived by his wife, Mary, two sons, Greg Hinkley and Geoff (Kim Ruley) Hinkley, sister, Patricia (Ronald) Beebe, brother, Mark (Kendra) Hinkley and his granddaughter, Andolyn Hinkley, all of Cheboygan. He was preceded in death by his parents.

No services are planned at this time.  Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
