Glen M. Proctor

February 24, 1948 ~ January 9, 2018 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Glen M. Proctor, 69, of Cheboygan, passed away January 9th, 2018, in Charlevoix after a nine year battle with Alzheimer’s.

Glen was born in Cheboygan on February 24th, 1948, son of the late Bert & Lois Proctor and nephew of ten Aunts and Uncles – all of Cheboygan.

Glen graduated from Cheboygan Area High School in the spring of 1966. As a young man he was an active member of the Boy Scouts, as well as serving as an alter boy at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

During his high school days Glen was a linebacker for the Cheboygan football team and proudly wore jersey #67.

Shortly after graduation, Glen married his first wife, Sherri Renne of Cheboygan, and pursued his dream of entering the Heating and Air Conditioning field by attending Ferris State College in Big Rapids, MI, where he completed vocational studies at the college’s trade and industrial division in the summer of 1967. He then returned home to his roots in Cheboygan enjoying his two children at the time, Jeffery Proctor and Kellie (Proctor) Glory, 49. Jeff preceded his Dad in death in March of 2008 at age 41.

On April 16, 1971, Glen married Indian River native Nancy K. Groves who survives her husband of 46 years and resides in Cheboygan.

Glen and Nancy enjoyed their years in Indian River raising two daughters together: Trina (Proctor) Bailey of Cheboygan, 42, and Charity A. Proctor of Indian River, 45. It was here that the couple formed Proctor’s Heating & Air Conditioning in 1986. Glen had finally realized his dream after decades as a skilled sheet metal man, Union journeyman and Mechanical Contractor. In 2001, Glen & Nancy returned to the Black River area where Glen loved fishing so much as a boy and he officially retired from Emmet County as a Mechanical Inspector in 2007.

Aside from his three daughters, his late son and wife Nancy, Glen is survived by sister Dianne Bourrie, 75, of Avon, Ohio, and his brother Chuck Proctor, 66, of Holt, MI. A Grandpa of eleven grandchildren and great grandfather to seven, he was a beloved father, grandfather and husband who will forever be known for his sense of humor, love of family, strong work ethic and character.
