Glenna A. Sipe (Brecheisen), 79, of Petoskey passed away on June 15, 2019 surrounded by family at McLaren Hospital.
She was born on September 16, 1939 in Petoskey, MI to Olin & Faith (Hyatt) Brecheisen. Glenna grew up in Petoskey and attended Petoskey High School, where she graduated in 1959. She met the love of her life, Dale Larry Sipe, they were married on August 29, 1959. They kept their roots in Petoskey where they raised their three children. She began a career at the Emmet County Building around 1967. First in the treasurers office and then transitioned to the Register of Deeds where she served as register for 27 years and retired in 2004. Glenna enjoyed crafting, sewing, and knitting for her grandchildren and others. She also loved gardening and spending time with her family. Glenna belonged to the Women’s Zonta Club and her neighborhood Secret Pal Club.
After a time suffering from an auto-immune disease, scleroderma in her early 50’s, it was followed by Dementia which became more debilitating as the years progressed. Until the very end, Glenna’s strong willed German personality kept her in the fight.
Glenna is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dale Larry; their three children, son Scott & Patti Sipe (Strobel), their children Megan Green (Jae), Eric Sipe (Jennifer); daughter Lorie & Jeff Oberg, their children Fallon LeJeune (Zac), Courtney Oberg (Ryan), Morgan Oberg (Rory),Travis Oberg; son David (Harv) & Suzanne Sipe (Downing), their child Tucker Sipe. Her sister, Wanda & Ralph Morrison, brothers Jim & Peggy Brecheisen, John Brecheisen, brother-in-law Louie Plevinski, sister-in-laws Bev & Fred Hinkley, Sr., Toni Lindemuth, Niki & Bill Hargrove, Kay & Arnie Burkhart, brother-in-law Gary Sipe and many nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, in-laws Dale & Minnie Sipe, her sister Leone Plevinski, nieces Barb Ricketts & Robin Kuhn, brother-in-law Rolly Lindemuth & nephew Michael Lindemuth.
Arrangements are being handled by Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey, MI. A memorial service will be held on Friday June 21, 2019 at 11am with a visitation prior at 10am.
In lieu of flowers the family requests for donations to be made on her behalf to a charity of choice. The family would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of her caregivers over the last couple of years.
