Upon graduation in 1960, Hank enlisted in the United States Air Force. The Air Force sent him to Syracuse University to learn Russian, and then to various posts around the world as part of the country’s intelligence effort.
Hank met his wife, Pringle Bowman, during their employment with IBM. They were married August 29, 1970, in the church of St. Aloysius, New Canaan, Connecticut. They welcomed their son, Henry Charles Pfeifer IV, in September 1982. In 1992, Hank retired as Program Manager at IBM and moved with his wife and son to Harbor Springs.
