I met Janine over 30 years ago when she came to the farm to take riding lessons, where I boarded my horse. We shared our love of horses.....showing our horses at the Arabian Horse Shows. Long, leisurely trail rides on Sunday. Those were great times. Wonderful memories of my "riding buddy."
Happy trails to you........Claudia

Many memories of Janine came flooding into my mind on learning of her death -- her exuberance for life, learning, creating, doing, helping, serving, and caring being at the top of the list. She was truly a "barn lady" and I will always cherish the memory of the day we worked together trying to save artifacts from a barn that was about to be destroyed yet were able to ward off the executioner's bulldozer at the eleventh hour. I suspect many very special Michigan buildings -- not just barns -- were saved due to her perseverance and vision. Janine was a good person and I am glad I got to know her and work beside her.

Very sad to learn of Janine's passing. Her historic research work with the Packard Proving Grounds was instrumental in obtain a listing on the National Registry of Historic Places for the site. Without her work many years ago we would not be in the position we are today. We are grateful for her service to us and may she rest in peace. --Packard Motor Car Foundation--

Janine was a wonderful sister and aunt. She was the family historian, reporter, and hostess extraordinaire. Her devotion to her family was shown through the many traditions she created from the Christmas Eve program to the Riha Open. We will miss her deeply, but we will treasure the memories she gave us.

I will always remember Janine as my cousin that I most wanted to be like (and I many to choose from). She had a fulfilling career, she traveled, and she had passion for life. I also remember that she married such a handsome guy-Chuck. These were the things that I wanted to do in my life. So as we bid you fare the well, I will also say that you were the perfect role model for me. Such a sweet cousin.
