Jean Ann Fochtman, 89
On Wednesday, January 16, 2019, Jean Ann Fochtman, loving wife and mother of five children passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 89.
Jean was born on April 26, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana to William and Bertha McMahon.
During a summer vacation on Crooked Lake, Jean met the love of her life, David L. Fochtman. They were married on November 28, 1950. They raised two daughters, Paula and Elizabeth, and three sons, Scott, Thomas “TJ” and Craig.
Jean was a member of the Bay View Country Club and retiree from Cutler’s Gift Shop. She was a brilliant bridge player. She was known for her quick wit, infectious smile and her compassionate spirit.
Jean was proceeded in death by her husband, David Fochtman, parents, William and Bertha, sister, Diane, her son William and grandson Zac. She is survived by her five children Paula, Scott, Thomas, Craig and Elizabeth, nine grandchildren Luke, Ryan, Megan, Natalie, Julia, Joshua, Tripp, Nate, and Charlie, and one great grandchild Mason.
She will be missed by lots of great friends at Independence Village. She lived her life to the fullest and had no regrets. Jean’s final message: “I had a good run”.
Jean’s family will remember and celebrate her life during a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Augustine Center, Sacramentine Monastery. Fr. Dennis Stilwell will lead the Mass. Jean’s family will begin to receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the service. A gathering will follow the service at Stafford’s Perry Hotel. Interment will take place in St. Francis Cemetery.
