Jean L. Simoneau

Jean L. Simoneau, age 94, a lifelong resident of Cheboygan, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Brook. She was born March 18, 1924, the daughter of Leonard and Lillian (LaHaie) McDonald. On July 3, 1945 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Jean married Alfred "Al" Simoneau who preceded her in death in December of 2008.

After graduating from Cheboygan High School, Jean went to work for Cheboygan County as an Addressograph Clerk. She then transferred to the Register of Deeds office when the new court house was built.  She ran for, and won, the Register of Deeds position and served two terms before retiring in 1989. In all, Jean served Cheboygan County for over 40 years.  Jean enjoyed reading, knitting and going to the casino with Al.

Survivors include her daughter, Andrea (Gale "Mickey") Brown of Cheboygan, one sister, Sandy (Dick) Bebble of Gaylord, three grandsons, James (Renee) Brown and Scott (Michele) Brown, both of Cheboygan and Kevin (Jennifer) Brown of Commerce Township, seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Besides her husband Al, Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Cleo Illig and a brother, Ronald "Mickey" McDonald. 

A memorial mass will take place at St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church on Saturday, November 3 at 11:00 am with the family greeting friends one hour prior to the service. Reverend Duane Wachowiak will officiate and inurnment will take place within Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jean's name may be directed to the church.  Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
