John David Allen

September 10, 1986 ~ July 27, 2017 (age 30) 30 Years Old

John David Allen (Johnny), 30 of Petoskey, died July 27th, 2017 at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI.

John was born in Petoskey on September 10, 1986 to Timothy Allen and Mary A. Seldon Melke. He was raised in Petoskey and graduated from Concord Academy in Petoskey with the class of 2004. He attended North Central Michigan College.  Johnny was the Front of the House Manager at Tap 30 in Petoskey and known by many as “Red Wings Johnny” because of his love of hockey.

On September 9, 2016, Johnny married the true love of his life, Holly Owen in Las Vegas, NV and the two made their home in Petoskey.

Johnny was passionate about his music and living life to the fullest.  He was a talented musician and played with his band Stereo Artifacts.   He had a big heart and put his family and friends first.  He was always ready to help anyone and was considered a best friend to many. Johnny was truly a joy to everyone’s life from the day he was born to the day of his passing and will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his wife, Holly (Owen) Allen;  his Parents, Mary A Seldon Melke (Tim Melke)    Tim Allen (Zachary Lueck)  and siblings, Nathan Olsen,  Russell Olsen,  Susan Olsen, Ezra Allen,  Derek Allen,  Dannon  Shotmiller;  Matthew Kuntz (Kelby) Zachariah Lueck (Bethany), and Kaytlyn Melke.   Mother and Father-in-law Mary and Pablo Alvarado and Father and Mother-in-law Mark and Deborah Owen;  sisters-in-law;  Selena Alvarado and Kim Owen.  And by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his niece Audrey Bode. 

He was preceded in death by grandparents; William (Red) and Elva Seldon and Esther Bassett.  His cousins Robert Seldon, Angie Seldon and his Uncle Richard Lunceford.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 2nd from 12:00pm (Noon) to 2:00pm at the Petoskey United Methodist Church at 1804 East Mitchell, Petoskey.  A memorial service celebrating Johnny’s life will follow immediately at the church at 2pm.

Arrangements are in the care of the Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey.
