John Bott

John Allen Bott (Bii dasigii NiNi), age 64, son of Mark Vincent Bott and Helen Simon Bott of Remus, Michigan, was born on May 17, 1954, in Alanson, Michigan, passed away July 26, 2018 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

A proud member of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, he strived to contribute and influence the members of his community through government and employment to better those around him any way he could.

This amazing husband, father, grandfather, friend and influential mentor to many is survived by his wife of over 4 decades, Diane (DeMott) Bott; his three sons, John Allen Bott, Jr. and his wife, Shelly Bott, Blayne Michael Bott and his wife, Sara, and Barry Phillip Bott and his wife, Alisha Bott; grandchildren, Daryan, Ayana, John III, Lillian, Maddison, Whitney and baby Eleanor; brother and sister-in-law, also survived by Marcia and Pat Funnell of Mt. Pleasant,  Michigan, Richard DeMott of Mt. Pleasant; Russell and LeAnn DeMott of Grand Ledge; nieces and nephews, Jason and Kimberly Funnell of Mt. Pleasant, Patrick and Amanada Funnell of Kentwood, and Amanda and Tim Hutchins of Mt. Pleasant. He is preceded in death by Father and mother-in-law, Richard and Retha (Patton) DeMott.

The family would like to thank, from the bottom of their hearts, Dr. Lisa Gallaway and oncology team of Karmanos Cancer Society of McLaren Hospital. A special thanks to the Shananaquet and Naganashe families. Also, to Dan Stead. Thanks to all those who attended and participated in his ceremonial fire.

A Memorial Mass will be on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Childhood of Jesus Catholic Church in Harbor Springs, Michigan. Lunch to follow at the Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers or plants, memorial contributions made in memory of John should be sent to the family.
