Dear Aunt Sharon & family. I'm so so sorry to hear of Uncle John's passing. I am so very sad. I have such wonderful memories of Uncle John. I thought he was the very best dad anyone could ever have and I loved visiting the Budek family in Petoskey! Lake Michigan, fishing, water skiing (I never could), petoskey stones, beaches, Budek's service station, cool cars, giant tires, the old fashioned coke machine, awesome house next to a playground!, playing cards, pickled watermelon rinds and wild strawberries, being teased and tickled and receiving lots of love. Even though we don't see much of each other, I think of the Budek clan very often. Love to everyone. Jamie

Budek Family,

As my siblings have said, we all remember Uncle John fondly. I think maybe he tickled one of us so much once that we got sick from laughing. We had a blowup Goodyear blimp from the service station for years. Many more happy childhood memories of visiting the Budek house. - Love, Linda Ringlein.

How exciting it was to travel to Petoskey to see the Budeks and our Uncle John and Aunt Sharon. The trip was long but always worth it to play with cousins and hear John's laughter and a warm hug from Sharon. To eat watermelon and play on the long slide in the yard and see the black squirrels. I wanted to grow up to own a business like John's Service and I have a love of cars after John showed me his Studebaker Hawk. (And I remember his Honda Insight too.) I'm glad I stopped last spring to say Hi and have them meet my love/wife. Love you John... David

I have the fondest memories spending time in the Budek home growing up. John and Sharon were always welcoming, making me a part of their extended family. Wishing the family peace and a smile each time they think of John.

To Aunt Sharon & the Budek Family,
I recall the feeling as a young child that Uncle John was a very special man ... and I knew this to be true because my mother, his sister Mary, was so dearly fond of him.
The Ringlein kids were always excited when we heard there was to be a visit from Uncle John & Aunt Sharon. Then we'd be on the lookout for that exceptional looking dark colored sedan with the tailfins that Uncle John drove! I remember him as strong and capable, with a pleasing sense of humor and eyes that twinkled behind his glasses.

Dear Aunt Sharon and Budek cousins. What a nice picture of Uncle John. This is always how I'll remember him. My mom loved him so much, I'm sure my relations with my bro's are modeled after their relationship. Most of my best Summer and Thanksgiving memories are from traveling up North and the welcome our family would have at your home. Uncle John was always kind and silly to his little ragamuffin nieces and nephews from the city!
