John Michael Sutherland, 90, died October 17, 2019.
Born November 25, 1928 in Detroit, John was the third child of Dr. Angus P. and Elizabeth (Born) Sutherland. He remembered a happy childhood growing up in Detroit while attending public schools: Pattengill and Mackenzie. He graduated from DePauw University in 1952 with a Bachelor Degree where he was also a member of PHI Gamma Delta. John joined the Army that year and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War as a member of ASA.
John was employed by Ford Motor Company from 1955 to 1986, most notably as a buyer for the Ford division. He retired in 1986, but worked five more years as a salesman for Phillips Plasters and Automotive Industries.
John moved to Good Hart in 1992. He traveled the world visiting 38 countries, all the states and Puerto Rico. He also worked in a gold mine, lumber camp and fought forest fires in California in 1948.
John is survived by his wife Marilyn; his children Shaun (Chuck) Koboldt and Blair (Mike) Chernavage; his grandchildren: Alexa, Bridgette, Jessica, and Courtney; and his four great grand children.
Preceding John in death is his son Dion Sutherland.
