Kathleen L. McGeath, 61, of Petoskey, passed away unexpectedly Friday night, January 24, 2020 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital. Kathy was born October 23, 1958 at St. John's Hospital in Detroit to Louise and Robert Lesnau. She grew up in East Detroit, attended Regina High School and then Macomb Community College. Kathy worked in the NICU at St. John's Hospital which is where she met her husband Dennis while he was in medical school.
Kathy and Dennis were married on August 4, 1978 and have spent most of their married life together in Petoskey raising their three children. Kathy was a kind, loving, generous person, devoted wife and mother and over the last 9 years has loved and adored her five grandchildren. She was the best "Nana" in the world and they all wanted to come to Nana's house (maybe partly because she would always have a treat or surprise for them and would let them have a popsicle (or popsicles) whenever they wanted, even if they hadn't eaten their dinner!) She will truly be missed by all her family and friends.
Kathy is survived by her husband Dennis; 3 children, Mark, Brian (Emily) and Kimberly (John); 5 grandchildren, Addison, Josie, Wells, JD and Ellis; 5 siblings, Michael, Diane (Paul), Cindy (Mark), Louise (Michael), and Laurie (Kirk). She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Louise; and a sister-in-law, Debbie.
Visitation will be at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey on Wednesday, January 29th, from 3-5 p.m. and again from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 30th, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Petoskey, her burial will take place immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery. Friends are welcome back to the church for a luncheon after the burial.
