Kathy Anne (Nelson) Towne

Kathy Anne Towne, 66, passed away peacefully at her home on November 9th, 2017 with her family present. 

She was born in Boyne City on January 7th, 1951 to Leonard and Virginia Nelson.  She was an active member of the First Presbyterian church and the Boyne City Eagles.  She graduated from Boyne City High School in 1969 and married Donald Moore on April 25th, 1969.  Following Don’s passing in 2012, she met and married Gene (Delbert) Towne on February 28th 2015, and the two spent the past three years together making memories.

Being with her family gave her the most joy, especially watching Michigan State sports and spending time at holidays.  Having cookouts on the back deck and bonfires were some of her favorite memories.  Listening to country music, especially Alan Jackson, always brought a smile to her face.

She is survived by her husband Gene (Delbert) Towne, Daughter Michelle (Tom) Reid, Son Matt (Heather) Moore, stepdaughter Jerry (John) Fay, brother Leonard Nelson, grandchildren Josh (Tracey) Force, Tyler Force, Kortenay Force, Caitlyn (Brandon) Force, Tommy Reid, Benjamin Reid, Joel (Mandi) Bates, Lauryn Bates, Abby Fay, great grandchildren Parker Force, Cole Riddle, Weslie and Lilly McClintock and soon to be Charlotte Marr. 

She is preceded in death by her late husband Donald Moore, son Marc Moore, brother Gary Nelson, sisters Kris Schoonmaker and Sally Sprague. 

Funeral arrangements will be Friday, November 17th at the First Presbyterian Church in Boyne City at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service; a luncheon will immediately follow. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northern Michigan Cancer Crusaders or the Boyne City Eagles in memory of Kathy.
