Kay E. Curtis, 63, of Cheboygan, died Thursday, May 9, 2019.
Born August 12, 1955, in Onaway, Kay was the daughter of Elwayne “Bud” and Janice (Pillsbury) McAtee. She attended Onaway Public Schools and later received an associate’s degree in business from Baker College. On March 15, 1976, she married Duane Curtis of Ocqueoc. Over her lifetime Kay worked as an office manager in several different companies and had moved last summer from Port Huron to Cheboygan, where she managed the Huron Estates Trailer Park.
A devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Kay lived to help others. She was a great cook who never met a person, cat, dog, horse, or possum she wasn’t willing to feed.
Surviving are her husband, Duane; a daughter, Gerri Battisi of Cheboygan; two sons, Wayne Curtis of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Joe Curtis of Cheboygan. Kay had two grandchildren, Devin and Devion; two sisters, Sherron (Darwin) Wendt of North Muskegon and Peg (John) Herring of Onaway; and a brother, Alan (Julie) McAtee of Onaway, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
No services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to the Cheboygan County Humane Society.
