Kelly Lee McDonald

Kelly L. McDonald, age 50, of Cheboygan passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 at his mother’s home. He was born November 12, 1969 in Cheboygan, the son of Thomas and Christine (Vieau) McDonald. Kelly grew up in Pellston and graduated from Pellston High School in 1988.

Kelly was a loyal employee for Al and Jim’s Tree Service for over 22 years. He loved listening to music and sitting around a campfire with his brother and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Christine, of Cheboygan, two sons, Shawn McDonald of Cheboygan and Jacob Bowman of Alabama, one brother, Jaimie McDonald of Cheboygan, two granddaughters, Gracelyn Rose McDonald and Sterling McDonald, his grandmother Ardath McDonald of Pellston, aunts and uncles Sandra (Bruce) Hartman of New Hampshire, Julia (Peter) Fleury of New York, Melissa Davey of Flint, David and James Leonard of Chelsea, MI, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father in 2016, his grandfather Lee McDonald, and grandmother Elizabeth Leonard.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 29 at noon at Community of Christ Church in Cheboygan (corner of S. River Rd & M-33) with the family greeting friends beginning at 11:00 am. Elder Ina Worthington will officiate. Memorial contributions in Kelly’s name may be directed to the either Hospice of the Straits or the Cheboygan County Humane Society. 

Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
