Leah M. (Overholt) Eichler

Leah M. Eichler, age 93, of Levering passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Bay Bluffs in Harbor Springs. She was born October 17, 1924 in Bliss, the daughter of John and Estella (Mallory) Overholt. On June 24, 1946 in Pellston, Leah married Melvin Eichler who preceded her in death in 1993.

Leah was a lifetime member of Bliss Missionary Church. She loved her home and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening bird watching and cutting her own grass well into her 80s. 

Survivors include her three daughters, Rose Ann (William) Barber of Levering, Diane (Walt) Poirier of Cheboygan and Mary (Michael Teike) Kilpatrick of Levering, two sons, John (Doreen) Eichler and Jerry (Shirley) Eichler, both of Levering, nine grandchildren, Lane and Tom Barber, Nicole Carlton, Ryan Poirier, Heather Ditta, Amy Eichler, Charlie Eichler, Sam Kilpatrick and Leah Kilpatrick, 15 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Russell Mallory and Ken Hoover and one sister-in-law, Iris Overholt. Besides her husband Melvin, Leah was preceded in death by three brothers, Lyle, Donald and Dean and two sisters, Norma Readmond and Gertrude Strong.

Visitation will take place at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home on Friday, January 12 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at the Bliss Missionary Church on Saturday, January 13 at 11:00 AM with the family greeting friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Rob Rhinier will officiate and burial will take place in the spring at Bliss Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church. Leah’s family would like to thank the staff at Bay Bluffs for the wonderful care given to their mother.
