Leslie Jo (Beekman) Swenor

Leslie Jo Swenor of Boyne Falls passed from this life, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at McLaren Northern Michigan.

She was born Leslie Jo Beekman on August 14, 1962 to Roger and Rose (VanKoevering) Beekman in Holland, Michigan.  She grew up in Holland and was a 1980 graduate of West Ottawa High School.  She went on to attend Alpena Community College, where she met the love of her life and husband of 33 years Tom Swenor.  The two were married in 1984 in Zeeland, Michigan but made their home in Melrose Township.  Leslie went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree from Ferris State College in 1986.  Upon graduation she went to work for Richard Andreson as a store Manager at several  Burger King restaurants across Northern Michigan.  For more than 24 years she worked as an Office Manager for Dentistry by the Bay, most recently she has been employed by First Community Bank as an Account Specialist.

Leslie lived each day with a purpose and passion; she was truly a wonderful wife and mom.  The pride of her life were her three sons, in all things she placed their needs first.  Her guidance and love will be deeply and forever missed.

Her surviving family includes her husband Tom and their sons, Richard, Troy and Tyler.  She is also survived by her mother Rose, by her sisters, Laura (Scott) Tubergan, Linda (Thomas) Brown, LuAnn (Bob Campbell) Beekman, her brother Russell (Carla) Beekman,  and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and many dear friends; as well as her canine companions Buddy and Zoey.  She was preceded in death by her father Roger Beekman and by her nephew Kenny Brown and her canine companion Pixie.

Leslie's life will be remembered and celebrated during a funeral service that is planned for 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 9th at Stone Funeral Home; Rev David Behling will officiate.  Visitation is planned for Sunday afternoon at the funeral home from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and again on Monday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
