Lila Mae Ball, 89 of Petoskey, died November 30, 2018 at Bay Bluffs in Harbor Springs.
Lila was born on November 11, 1929 in Mackinaw City, to Carl and Alice (Forgett) Taylor, she was the oldest of 13 siblings.
On May 26, 1956, she married Howard Ball. They spent the next 62 years happily married.
Lila enjoyed crafting, knitting, crocheting and embroidery. She was generous with her creations and gave away almost every afghan blanket she ever made to friends and family. She was a member of both the National and State Button Societies and the Michigan Antique Phonograph Society. Lila loved to dance, whether it was Polka or square dancing, you could find her on the dance floor with her favorite partner, Howard. Lila was a great baker and a wonderful cook. Some of her finest dishes were her salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, and "the best meatloaf in the world".
She will be remembered as a gentle soul with a huge heart. Above all else, Lila loved her family. She absolutely adored her granddaughters and great grandchildren.
Lila is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Howard Ball of Petoskey; her son, Marc (Wanda) Snow of Harbor Springs; granddaughters, Erika (Keith) Lynch and Ursula (Zach) Monger; great grandchildren, Andru Lynch, Carolyn Lynch, Lily Monger and Lila Monger; 8 brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by four siblings.
There will be a funeral service at Stone Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with a one hour visitation prior.
The Ball family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Bay Bluffs for their wonderful care and the love they showed to Lila in her final years. All of the small things they did for her on a daily basis did not go unnoticed.
