Linda Margaret Charboneau-Kapsa, 72, of Cheboygan, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 peacefully at home surrounded by family. 

A lifelong resident of the area, Linda was born December 2, 1945 in Cheboygan, the daughter of Merle and Ruth Elizabeth “Betty” (Bancroft) Duffiney.  She attended Benton #7 school and was a graduate of Cheboygan Area Public Schools, and was head majorette while attending there.  On July 13, 1963 In Cheboygan, she married Collin Elden Charboneau, who preceded her in death.  Later, on November 2, 2002 in Cheboygan, she married Robert R. Kapsa, who survives.  Linda was both a licensed builder and realtor, and was president and owner of Collin Elden Charboneau Builders.  She enjoyed shopping, spending time with her grandgirls, a passion for flowers, interior decorating, a love for nature, and sunshine.  She was a Republican Party supporter, founder of Papa’s Toy Chest, a member of the NRA, and a lifelong member of St. James Episcopal Church. 

Surviving are her husband, Robert, a son, Todd Charboneau, a daughter, Renee (Jim) Brown, both of Cheboygan, her grandchildren, Megan and Macey Charboneau, and Rachel Kurtz, her step children, Bruce (Lynn) Kapsa of Grosse Ile, and Mark (Fran) Kapsa of Shelby Township, a step granddaughter, Serena Kapsa, her siblings, Diana (Jerry) Knaffle, Brent (Sandy) Duffiney, Wayne (Michelle) Duffiney, Sally (Bill) Frary, and Peggy (Phil) Sibbald, her nieces and nephews, Christy Duffiney, Betsy Duffiney, Tina Duffiney, Clay Bob Frary, Wade Canell, Adam Canell, Sabra Duffiney, Shane Duffiney, and Amber McKee, her great nieces and nephews, Brent Duffiney, Tyler Duffiney, Kade Kileen, Cullen Duffiney, and Phoenix Duffiney, uncle Thomas Bancroft and aunt Della Warner-Bancroft, special friends, Glenna Cunningham, Sherri Vazales, Wally and Sally Daniels, Karen Hunsacker, cousin Sharon Bonter, and so many others that touched her heart.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her husband Collin Elden Charboneau, and a brother, Craig Duffiney.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018, from 5:00pm-8:00pm, at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11:00am, with the family greeting friends beginning at 10:00am, at St. James Episcopal Church in Cheboygan.  Rev. Lewis Crusoe will officiate, burial will be at Pinehill Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church.
