Lu Rita (Wolschon) Alef

Lu Rita Alef, age 103 of Boyne City passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at her home.

Lu was born on April 5, 1914 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Joseph and Rose Wolschon.  She was a beautiful, caring, witty, giving woman that was the life of the party.  Lu’s most cherished thing was her family, she always put her family first.

Lu is survived by her three daughters Noel Fisher, Lori (Jim) VanOstenbridge and Pam (Steve) Budd; grandchildren Matthew (Pre) Gusmano, Jacob Gusmano, Alana Gusmano, Sydney Fisher, Colette Latimer, Jolene (Bill) Kavanaugh, Billy (Jennifer) Budd, Jaret (Raelynn) Budd and Amanda VanOstenbridge; brother Jerry Wolschon and many great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Chet Alef; two brothers Fr. Ed Wolschon and Joe Wolschon; and sister Helen Lewis.

A memorial mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, June 17, 2017 at St. Matthews Church in Boyne City with a gathering of family and friends being held from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Fr. Frank Partridge will be serving as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to assist with a cemetery marker for Lu, in C/O Noel Fisher.
