Margaret Rita Rostar, 93, of Petoskey, Michigan, died on August 15, 2019 at American House in Petoskey, Michigan.
Margaret was born April 15, 1926 in Mancelona, Michigan and was the daughter of John and Margaret (Korr) Rostar. She grew up in Petoskey and graduated from Petoskey High School.
Since 16 years old Margaret worked for Galster Kingman Insurance Company. She retired from there after 50 years of service as an insurance agent.
Margaret held the Lord and her faith close to her heart and was an active member in the catholic church. She attended St. Francis Xavier Church while living in Petoskey. During the 1990s she moved to Florence, Alabama where she attended the St. Joseph Catholic Church. When she moved to Flint, Michigan she joined the St. Mary Catholic Church. Her faith meant very much to her and she spent much of her time helping the church. Margaret would hand make beautiful rosaries for her church to have as well as for troops overseas.
Margaret was an avid gardener, so much so that she would spend every opportunity she had to be with her flowers. She sold her flowers at the Boyne City farmers market.
Margaret also liked to read and collect angels. She was a member of Zanta, a women and business group.
Margaret was devoted to her family and her faith. She was a very independent and strong women that loved all her nieces and nephews and treated them like her own.
Surviving Margaret is her sister-in-law Carolyn; her Aunts Josephine Zirelli and Mary Smith of Alden; her nieces: Polly (Ray) Lowetz, Jan (Tim) Hall, Marvel Rostar, Lucy Keelor, Ruth, Jackie Bunker, Connie (Rick) Babcock, Karen Rostar, Theresa (Daniel) Drenth, and Melissa Rostar; her nephews: Frank and Jim (Susan) Rostar; and many great nieces and nephews.
Preceding Margaret in death are her parents John and Margaret Rostar; her brothers: John (Harriet), Frank (Marvel), and Robert; and her nephews: David, Michel, Paul, and Mark Rostar.
Those wishing to make a charitable donation in Margaret's memory are suggested by family to do so to the Hospice of Michigan.
A memorial mass will be officiated by Father Gregory McCallum on Tuesday August 20, 2019 at 10:30 AM with a visitation beginning at 9:30 AM at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
