Marjorie McNamara Obituary

Marjorie McNamara, 92, of Harbor Springs, died November 15, 2018 at home.

Marjorie was born July 15, 1926, in Beverly, Massachusetts, the daughter of Arthur and Lillian (Falvey) Bright.

On September 3, 1944, she married Maurice Deane "Mac" McNamara at St. Peter's Episcopal church in Beverly, Massachusetts. She was a homemaker, and a dedicated wife and mother. Marjorie worked for the State of Michigan in the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs for nine years. She enjoyed reading, playing BINGO and line dancing. Every Wednesday, she would go bowling and out to lunch with her lady friends. She liked to bake and was well known by seasonal tourists in Good Hart for her homemade pies.

Marjorie could often be found at the Hospitality House in Petoskey, volunteering her time to those who needed her most. She was compassionate and a good listener, which made her the perfect volunteer. She was also a proud member of the Mayflower Society, the VFW Women's Auxiliary and a parishioner at the United Methodist Church in Harbor Springs.

Marjorie cherished the time she spent with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Deanna Hinman of Mason, MI, Jeanne (Roy) McGowan of Mason, MI and Susan (James) Tews of Lansing, MI; grandchildren, Kimberly McGowan, Tracy McGowan, Michele (John) Harder, Theresa (Chad) Ware, Nikolas (Jackie) Leible and Kelli (Ben) Holben; great grandchildren, Jessica and Alexis LaFraugh, Claudia, London and Agatha Harder, Amy Holben, and Teagan and Brennan Ware; brother, Bruce (Annette) Bright of Middleton, WI; many nieces, nephews, friends; and her longtime companion, beloved cat, Marcie.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband, Deane "Mac"; and her brother, William Arthur Bright.

There will be a funeral service at the United Methodist Church in Harbor Springs on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Susan Hitts will officiate.
