Marvin Frank Sydow, 85 of Brutus, Michigan passed away September 6, 2019 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey.
Son of Carl and Frieda (Wurst) Sydow , Marvin was born on April 5, 1934 in Petoskey, Michigan. He grew up in Brutus and attended grade school at Ayr Country School and Pellston High School.
Marvin served two years in the United States Army in the Korean War. After returning home he spent his life as a laborer working in many different industries. He worked on the family farm with beef cattle and was a construction worker on many different projects and golf courses.
Marvin enjoyed driving around the country and messing around in the woods. He loved all animals, especially his dog. Marvin also loved children and could always make them smile and laugh.
Marvin was an active member of the Zion Christian Fellowship in Brutus and attended church every Sunday.
Surviving Marvin are his siblings: Laura MacDonld, Elsie Sydow, and Carl (Marcia) Sydow; his sister-in-law Lela Sydow; his loyal friends: Bob Howard, and Joe Liberia; his several nieces and nephews; and his loyal companion and dog Fritz.
Preceding Marvin in death are his parents Carl and Frieda Sydow; and his siblings: Albert Sydow, Adolph Sydow, Harold Sydow, Clara Webster, Virginia Cleven, and Richard Sydow.
Those wishing to make a charitable donation in Marvin Sydow's memory are suggested by family to do so to the Zion Christian Fellowship church or McLaren Home Care & Hospice.
A funeral service will be led by Rev. Roger Fate on September 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Zion Christian Fellowship church with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM with a luncheon to follow. Marvin will be buried at the Maple River Cemetery.
