Mary H. Carney

Mary H. Carney, age 89, of Cheboygan passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at her home. She was born October 29, 1928 in Cheboygan, the daughter of Jacob and Lillian (Moore) Elyea. Mary graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1946 and on June 5, 1948 married Eugene “Gene” Carney, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1979.

First and foremost, Mary was a wife, mother, homemaker and caretaker raising seven children. After her children were grown, she worked at Century Products and Circuit Control. She enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting and reading and studying the Bible.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Gary) Brandenburg of Gaylord, Diana Oosting of NC, Lois Everts of Cheboygan, Gene (Heather) Carney of Cheboygan, Rosemary (Brian) Geminden of OH, Dan (Carol) Carney of MO and Lori Dotson of Cheboygan, 12 grandchildren, Dawn (Jim) Sylvester, Todd Smith, Shelle (Kevin) Goodwin, Amanda (Shane) Pongpairoj, Kaysi (Dan) Kallweit, Shawn Carney, Jessica (Damon) Fite, Matthew (Brandy) Geminden, Michelle (Russ) Lane, Brittany Carney, Katie Carney and Chandelor Dotson, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Besides her husband Gene, Mary was preceded in death by her 11 siblings.

A memorial service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Kingdom Hall.  Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
