Neva Arlene (Young) Lauer

Neva Arlene Lauer (Young), 100 passed away November 21, 2019 at Bay Bluffs in Harbor Springs, Michigan.

Neva was born September 3, 1919 on the family farm at Five Mile Creek. She graduated from Harbor Springs High School in 1937.

She spent some of her married life there with Ernest, the love of her life. They married on November 2, 1939 and their sons, Randy and Frank, were both born there.

Later Neva and Ernest moved to Lake Road where George was born, and they remained there throughout her life.

Ernest preceded her in death when he passed away in 1958.

Neva continued to spend many years working the area after. She cleaned cottages and worked at the Bluff Gardens. She also spent 17 years cooking at Harbor Springs High School.

Neva was also a member of the Harbor Springs Granqe where she spent many years and sewed and donated well over 100 quilts.

Surviving Neva are her children Frank (Eva) Lauer and George (Debbie) Lauer; her grandchildren: Doug (Kathy), Tammy (Todd), Becky (Marty), Patty (Francisco), Kelly (Jim), Tracy, Heather, Mickey, Robin (Martin), Amy (Rob), Duane (Slava); her 22 great-grandchildren; and her 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding Neva in death is her husband Ernest; her son Randy Lauer; her step-grandchild Gerry Gregory; and her siblings: Dan Young, Nora Young, John Young, Elizabeth Garver, and Estella Ramey.

A funeral mass for Neva will be led by Father James Bearss on November 25, 2019 at Holy Childhood of Jesus Catholic Church in Harbor Springs at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.

Those wishing to make a donation in Neva’s memory are suggested by family to give to the Bay Bluffs Auxillary.
