Noah Rufus Dodge, 30 of East Jordan, Michigan, died April 28, 2019 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
Noah was born September 14, 1988 in Traverse City, Michigan, the son of Fritz R. Dodge and Martha J. Thorp. He grew up in Ellsworth and East Jordan and attended school in both places. Noah completed his GED and attended some college classes at North Central Michigan College in Petoskey and Lansing Community College.
Over the years, Noah battled addiction and was scheduled to go to Skywood Recovery in Kalamazoo for rehabilitation on the same day he became sick. He was hospitalized the next day and lost the battle for his life 15 days later. Noah's journey through addiction is not what defines him. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother and friend. He loved to read and did some writing in his last couple of years. He enjoyed cooking and baking. He was athletic and had a passion for skateboarding and was also talented in snowboarding, kayaking and basketball. He was a consummate Scrabble player and always delighted friends and family with his wit and vocabulary.
Noah is survived by his mother, Martha Thorp of East Jordan; sisters, Autumn Marcie Dodge and Chicory Lei (Jarvis) Rolle; niece, Alaria Muriel Rolle; Auntie Ann and Uncle Khalil Saab and cousins of Fenton; Aunt Roxy Peruski and cousins of Woly; and his girlfriend Aubree Bartholomew of East Jordan. Noah was preceded in death by his father, Fritz Dodge, in 2018.
There will be a memorial service at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey on June 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with a one hour visitation prior to the service.
