Patricia Ann (Carlson) Aiello

Patricia Ann Aiello, 60, of Alanson, died March 31 surrounded by family at Hiland Cottage, Petoskey, MI.  The Rev. Charles Romanowski of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pennsburg, PA will officiate the service at the Stone Funeral Home, and burial will be alongside her father in Pine Hill Cemetery of Cheboygan, MI.

Pat was born April 6, 1956 in Flint, Michigan, the eldest of five daughters of Boyd and Milana (Sukany) Carlson.  She grew up in Flint and Bloomfield Hills, MI and graduated in 1978 with a Bachelors degree in Nursing from the University of Michigan.  On November 24, 1979, she married Peter J. Aiello.

Pat was a devoted mother to her two children, and her nurturing spirit was shared with many people in her life.  While raising the children in Green Lane, PA, she helped them excel in academics as well as music, dance and sport, and was proud of their accomplishments as thriving adults who are now raising children of their own.  As a Registered Nurse First Assistant, she spent decades saving lives as part of a surgical team, where she was known for her courage and loyalty; she gave it her all.  As a talented musician, she played the piano and sang for her church’s choir and could be found participating in many service events.  With a creative eye, she also designed and helped build her home.  She spent many joyful hours adorning her house with countless beautiful, handmade items so it would to be a welcoming place for family and friends.  As a sister and aunt, she shared her rich creativity by crafting many gifts, from cross-stitch to ceramics to stained glass.  She loved to be outdoors, and was an avid runner, hiker, skier and gardener, and she enjoyed sharing these pastimes with her loved ones.  Along with her husband, she lived, worked and traveled the world.  Together they made new friends and participated in local arts and customs while they lived in Japan, the Netherlands and Switzerland, prior to retiring in Petoskey. 

Pat is survived by her husband of 37 years, Peter; 2 children Joseph (Jeanette) Aiello of Birmingham, MI and Linnea (Andrew) Shieh of Sunnyvale, CA; 3 grandchildren Harold Shieh, Cordelia Shieh and Elijah Aiello; her mother Milana Carlson of Highlands Ranch, CO; 4 sisters Jennifer Carlson, Camille Johnson, Erica Dromgoole and Gwen Scott; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

She is preceded in death by her father Boyd Carlson, and her niece Abigail Dromgoole.

Donations in her memory can be sent to the Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Northern Michigan or the Little Traverse Conservancy, in lieu of flowers.
