Patricia Ann (O'Donnell) Heisel

April 15, 1933 ~ July 30, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Patricia Ann Heisel, 84, died July 30, 2017, at her home at Walloon Lake, Michigan, surrounded by her husband of 61 years and five children, after a brief and brave fight against acute myeloid leukemia.

Pat was born April 15, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Emmett and Johanna (Lustig) O'Donnell. She grew up in Detroit and attended the University of Detroit where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree.

On November 5, 1955, she married William Amos Heisel, DDS, in Detroit. Together, they raised five children.

Pat and William moved to Bloomfield Hills and spent summers at Walloon Lake. For the last twenty years, they split their time between Boca Grande, Florida, and Walloon Lake.

Pat liked to play tennis, ski, read, knit, and work on crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed volunteer work with Our Ladies of Mercy in the Detroit area and tutoring migrant workers’ children in Florida. Pat and William were members of the Walloon Lake Country Club and Pat was active in the Boca Grande Women's Club. Pat’s greatest joys were her friends and family.

Pat is survived by her husband, William Heisel; five children — Heidi Heisel, BSN, William Jr. (Kellee) Heisel, MD, Julie (Hugh) Sullivan, JD, James (Diane) Heisel, MD, and Jane (Paul Badalich) Heisel, MD; and twelve grandchildren — Bill, Michael and Ian Crimmins, Scott, Haylee and Patrick Heisel, Megan and Hugh Sullivan, Erica and Curtis Heisel, and Johanna and Will Badalich. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Emmett O'Donnell.

There will be a memorial mass at St. Francis Xavier Church on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at 10:30 AM. There will also be a memorial mass in Boca Grande this fall.

The Heisel family suggests memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the Roundup River Ranch, a camp for children with serious and life threatening illnesses in Colorado. (roundupriverranch.org)
