Patricia Thompson Obituary

Patricia A. Thompson, 68, of Cheboygan, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey.

Pat was born January 20, 1951 in Detroit, the daughter of Edward and Shirley (Houle) Thompson.  She was a 1969 graduate of St. Martin’s On the Lake High School, and shortly thereafter moved to Mackinaw City to work at Downing’s Restaurant, and later the Fort Restaurant.  In the late 1970’s she owned and operated the Dinner Bell Restaurant.   She then went to work at the newly constructed K Mart store in Cheboygan in 1980 until her retirement in 2011 after 31 years of service.  She then went to work at Sav-A-Lot in Cheboygan, retiring again in 2017.  Pat was a yearly volunteer at the Thanksgiving Dinner held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, and recently received the volunteer of the year award in 2018 for her work at Hospice House in Cheboygan.  She attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mackinaw City, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Riggsville.  Pat also enjoyed knitting, decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas, collecting bears and snowmen, and was an avid sports fan, following Michigan State University sports and the Detroit Pistons.

Surviving are two sisters, Mary Keiser of Petoskey, and Kathy Thompson of Mackinaw City, longtime friend, Bob Pawlowski, a cousin, Betty Noechel of Chesterfield, four nephews, Marty and Tom Keiser, and Jason and Aaron Thompson, five great nephews, two great nieces, a sister in law, Diane Thompson, two God daughters, Heather and Amelia, and two special friends, Sandy and Mike Ormanovich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Kenny, Dennis, David, Michael, Larry Thompson, a nephew, Brian E. Keiser, Sr., and a great nephew, Brian E. Keiser, Jr.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on  Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00am, with the family greeting friends beginning at 9:00am, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Riggsville.  Rev. Duane Wachowiak will officiate, burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery.

A graveside committal service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 2:00pm, at Lakeview Cemetery in Mackinaw City.
Memorials may be made to Hospice House in Cheboygan, or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
