Reta Mae Skop

Reta Mae (Urman) Skop, 85 of Boyne City, passed away February 16, 2019

Reta was born on April 10, 1933 in Boyne City, the daughter of George Sr. and Helen (Hilderbrant) Urman.  She grew up in Boyne City and graduated in 1951.  On February 11, 1956, Reta married her sweetheart, Raymond Skop.  Together they raised their three children.  They spent sixty-one wonderful years together before Ray passed away on March 24, 2017.

Reta loved being outside working in the yard and enjoying the sun, traveling, watching her husband, children, and grandchildren play sports, spending time at the beach with her family, and shopping.  Later in life Reta enjoyed golfing and walking the sandy beaches of the UP searching for stones.

Reta is survived by her 3 children, Michael (Deanna) Skop of East Jordan, Diane Fiel of Boyne City, and John Skop of East Jordan; 10 grandchildren, Kari Skop, Ashley Skop, Morgan Skop, Ryan (Sonja) Fiel, Rene Fiel, Roslyn (Alvin) Sitkiewicz, Reggie Fiel, Nathan (Lindsey) Skop, Stefanie Skop, and Jessica (Phil) Peterson; 10 great grandchildren, Kinley, Bristol, Laken, Mylee, Wyatt, Lilyana, Everly, Emme, Mason and Harper.

Reta was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond; sisters Anna Kent, Dorothy Hudson, Jeannette Lockman; brothers Jack, George and Charles Urman; and daughter-in-law Angela Skop.

A funeral Mass will be held at the St. Matthew Catholic Church in Boyne City on Thursday, February 21st at 11:00 am with viewing at 10:00 am. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, February 20th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm with the Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm.
