Richard Bohn Obituary

Richard F. Bohn, 74, of Cheboygan, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at home.

Richard was born to Frederick and Adeline (Carlson) Bohn on December 28, 1943 in Cheboygan. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 until his discharge in 1966.  February 4th, 1967, he married Gloria “Gayle” Rocheleau, who preceded him in death in 1986.  Later, on January 28th, 1988, he married Barbara “Barb” Welke, who survives.  Richard was a hard worker, owning and operated Dick Bohn Sales and Service in Cheboygan from 1969 until 1988, selling and repairing televisions. During this time, Richard also worked for the Cheboygan Area School System, driving school bus, later working in the maintenance department. Richard was Brian and Brenda’s bus driver while they attended elementary school. After moving to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1989, he was employed by the public school system for 10 years in the maintenance department, retiring in 2000, upon which he moved to Florida. Richard was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Cheboygan, was a former member of the Cheboygan Lions Club, and enjoyed bowling, softball, and golf.

Survivors include his twins, son, Brian (Shellie) Bohn of Macomb, his daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Johnson of Clarkston, two step children, Brian (Jen) Welke of South Carolina, and Sarah (Crawford) Reynolds of North Carolina, seven grandchildren, Tony and Sydney Johnson, Tyler and Tanner Bohn, Dylann and Brooklyn Welke, and Oliva Skinner, three brothers, Bob Bohn of Cheboygan, Gilbert (Karen) Bohn of Levering, and Ronnie Bohn of Mt. Pleasant, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Gayle, a sister, Betty Bohn, and a brother, Melvin Bohn.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Riggsville.
