Richard Joseph Matelski

Richard Joseph Matelski, 41 years young of Boyne Fall, MI passed away unexpectedly on June 13th.

Rick was born on December 13, 1975 in Petoskey, MI. He is the son of David and Mary Matelski. Rick graduated from Boyne Falls Public School where he excelled at playing basketball for the loggers as well as football for the Boyne City Ramblers. His desire for athletics continued with his discovery of a passion for softball, whether it was as a player or inspiring others thru coaching. One of the things he was most proud of was being the coach for the Boyne Falls Logger Girls softball team. Rick loved his bonfires and his flowers, but his favorite thing to do was help others. If you needed anything Rick would do his best to help in any way he could.

The most standout thing about Rick was his brilliant smile, his happy go lucky attitude, his infectious giggle, and his incredibly huge heart. Those who knew him know that the most important thing in his life was his family. Brendon and Calsey were the light of his life and his entire world.

He was so proud of them and would tell anyone that would listen. He devoted his life to his kids and his fiancé Tonya. He and Tonya spent so many years together building an amazing life. He was their entire world as well. Rick is survived by his parents David and Mary Matelski, his children Brendon and Calsey Matelski, his fiancé Tonya Timmerman, his brothers James (Gwen) Matelski, Gary (Alison) Matelski, his sister Corinna (Stacy) Matelski, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, June 15, 2017 at St. Augustine Church in Boyne Falls with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM followed by a time of sharing.

Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, June 16th at the church followed by burial at St. Augustine Cemetery.
