Robert Stencel Obituary

Robert Joseph Stencel, 85 of Harbor Springs, Michigan, passed away November 18, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

Son of Harry and Laura (Wanta) Stencel, Robert was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on May 25, 1934. He grew up in Rosholt, Wisconsin on the family farm, proudly serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On July 9, 1960 Robert married Ann Wiklanski in Chicago and they made their home in Romeoville, Illinois for 8 years after. He went to work for Western Electric and in 1969 he and his family moved to Larks Lake, Michigan where he worked at McLaughlin's for 33 years.

Robert loved to snowmobile and would be in the Moose Jaw Safari. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman.   He was a member of the Lions Club, the St. Nicholas Catholic Church, served as the Center Township Constable for many years, as well as being involved with the Larks Lake Fast Pitch Baseball in the 1970s as well as Umpiring a lot of the games for the men and women leagues. Robert will always be remembered for his quick whit and his great sense of humor, and that his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.

Robert is survived by his children, Linda (Charles) Murray and Joseph (Laura) Stencel; his eight grandchildren, Angela (Adam) Silveus, Teresa (Tobiah) Pflug, Melissa (Rodney) Franks, Kayla (Byron) Pflug, Sara Murray, Michael Murray, Alexis (Darrin Combs) Stencel, and Daniel Stencel; ten great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Christian, and Vanessa Silveus, Hannah and Emma Pflug, Caleb Franks, Landon, Braelon, and Adeline Pflug, and Ryan Madigan; and by his two brothers, Richard and Ken Stencel of Wisconsin.

Robert was preceded in death is his wife Ann (Wiklanski) Stencel; his siblings John and Lorraine; and his brother-in-law Peter Wiklanksi.

A memorial Mass for Robert will be held on December 28, 2019 at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Larks Lake, Michigan at 11:00AM. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00AM until the time of Mass.

Those wishing to honor Robert's memory are asked to make a donation to the McLaren Hospice House of Cheboygan , as the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to them and their wonderful staff for the care and comfort they not only gave to Robert during his stay there, but to his family as well.
