Rodney Lee Place

Rodney Lee Place, 60 of Petoskey, Michigan, died September 10, 2019 at his home in the presence of his loving family.

Son of Glen and Leah (Landon) Place, Rodney grew up in Oden, Michigan and went to school in Alanson and Petoskey.

Rodney spent 27 wonderful years with his significant other Debera Lutz.

Rodney was a multi-talented, jack of all trades. He learned through experience working in a wide range of industries and applied it to his every day life helping any friend, family member or neighbor that needed it. He was larger than life and good at what he did.

Rodney loved all things in nature and bird watching at home. He loved to landscape and had the green thumb to do it. Being a licensed mechanic Rodney loved to restore cars.

Surviving Rodney is his teammate in life Debera Lutz, her children: Mark, Jenni, and Lisa, and her grandchildren; his stepdaughter Samantha; his siblings: Cathy (Curt) Whitehead, Dennis Place, and Nancy Swadling; his nieces and nephews: Jenny (Mike) Becker, Kristi (Gary) Sams, Leahrose (Rob) Buning, Brandon Swadling, and Lucas Swadling; several great nieces and nephews; and several aunts and uncles.

Preceding Rodney in death are his parents Glen and Leah Place, and his brother Eugene Place.

Those wishing to make a charitable donation in Rodney's memory are suggested by family to do so to a charity of their choice in Rodney's name.

A memorial service will be led by Pastor Tom Barber at Stone Funeral Home, Inc. September 14, 2019 at 4:00 PM with a visitation beginning at 3:00PM.
