On Thursday, November 1st, 2018, Ruth Ann Gundry, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with her Lord. She was born on June 4th, 1926 in Cheboygan to the late Edward and Violet (Romblom) Anderson. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and enjoyed teaching for many years. On June 20th, 1959, she married James Gundry. They raised two children, Glenn and Barbara.
Ruth had a passion for the written word, penning countless letters to friends and family, and even wrote a book detailing the Anderson family history. The church and her church family were an integral part of her entire life and she would often share her love of both to anyone she met. She loved to travel and did so extensively throughout her life, often including her children and grandchildren - making priceless memories across the globe. She enjoyed entertaining and will be remembered by many as a warm, welcoming, and generous hostess. Her smile was truly infectious.
She is survived by her devoted husband James, daughter Barbara, two sisters, Margaret and Irene, brother, Ray, daughter-in-law, Ginger, sister-in-law, Muriel, granddaughters, Erin (James) Elyse, Elaina, Kayla, and Rory, great grandchildren Addyson and Mason, countless nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her church family.
Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by son Glenn, sister, Lillian, brother, Glenn, and her brothers-in-law Don, Don, and Dick.
A memorial service will take place at the Evangelical Covenant Church on Tuesday, November 6 at 11:00 AM with the family greeting friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor John Gardner will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
