Ruth Marie Yoder

Ruth Marie Yoder went to be with our Lord on July 27, 2019 in Harbor Springs, Michigan surrounded by her friends and family. She was born on February 29, 1932, the daughter of Amos and Elsie (Brubacher) Gregory. She and her siblings walked over a mile to the one room schoolhouse in Woodland from where they lived on their family farm in Brutus. After the 8th grade, she worked for several years as a nanny in Petoskey.

After attending Fairview Winter Bible School, Ruth met her husband, Fred Yoder, when teaching Summer Bible School in Minot, ND. They were married on November 15, 1953 in Petoskey, MI. They lived on the Yoder family farm near Minot, ND for 7 years before moving to Oregon, Idaho, and then back to Michigan.

Ruth was a homemaker and mother to 5 children. She enjoyed games, puzzles, sewing, and reading. She was a member of Harbor Light Community Chapel for over 30 years and spent countless hours serving the community through the Harbor Light Food Pantry.

Ruth and Fred had 5 children: Sharon, deceased, married to Mike Luke; Susan, married to Phillip Clemmer; Donald, married to Shelly (Hepburn); Elsie, married to David McKenney; and John, married to Laurie (Durga).They also had 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Ruth was proceeded in death by her parents, 3 siblings, and one daughter.

A memorial service will be held at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey on September 14th, 2019 with a visitation at 10:00 AM and the service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will be held immediately following at Harbor Light Chapel.
