William Henry Purdy passed peacefully at his son’s home in Rapid River on May 4, 2019.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and services will be held at 2:00 PM at the Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City, Michigan.
William was born on July 15, 1930, the son of William L. and Rose (Slater) Purdy.
He lived in Genesee County until his retirement, and was an elementary teacher at Kearsley, Hamady and Beecher schools. He lived in Boyne City in his retirement, and spent the last year under the care of his son in Rapid River.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty (Jackson), brother Russell, sisters June and Evelyn, and second wife Marilyn. He is survived by his children William A. (Sylvia) of Rapid River, Michael of Cheboygan, Thomas (Rose) of Boyne City and Anne (Ralph) Murdick of Twining, Michigan, and grandchildren, Tommy and Ann Purdy, and Tammy Kramer and Chantal Kramer.
His kindness, decency, and humility will be remembered by all who knew him.
