Alan Devitt passed away peacefully Saturday, December 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy defined by love for his family, dedication to hard work, and loyalty to the things he enjoyed most in life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Debra Devitt (Dunlay). Alan was a proud and devoted father to his sons, Jason Devitt, wife Carrie and their children, Rylee and Blake, and Matt Devitt, wife Jackie and their children Evelyn, Lincoln, and Brennan. He was a loving grandfather who took great joy in his grandchildren.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Beryl Devitt. He is also survived by his sister Cindy Hemingway, brothers Brian and Jeff Devitt, and brother-in-law Casey VanConant, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Known for being hardworking and dedicated, Alan took great pride in providing for his family and doing things the right way. He never missed watching his boys play sports-no matter how cold the weather or how busy life became-always showing up with encouragement and pride.
A loyal supporter of Detroit sports, Alan especially enjoyed cheering on the Lions and the Tigers. He also loved spending time outdoors and appreciated the simple pleasures that came with it.
Alan lived in Peck, Michigan before moving to Charlevoix in 1999, a place he came to call home and truly enjoy.
A celebration of Alan's life will be held in the spring. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
